Mother Nature has won her first event of the 2014 racing season at Southern National Motorsports Park. With rain a looming threat for Saturday, track management has decided to cancel this Saturday's event.
"With a 90% chance of rain, we wanted to call it early and try to save some people some money hauling their cars to the track," said track co-owner Jerry Brown. "If it seemed as though there was a chance of getting the race in this weekend we would go for it, but it really doesn't look promising."
A makeup date has yet to be determined.
Racing will return to Southern National Motorsports Park on Saturday, April 12 with a full night of racing. The night will mark the second Dirty Dozen event, featuring twin-75 lap events for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stocks. Also in action will be Limited Late Models, Chargers, Street Stocks, UCARs, Legends and Bandoleros. Gates open at 2:00 PM, with the green flag set to fly for 7:00 PM. Spring Fever tickets are just $12 for adults 16+, $10 for seniors/military (with valid ID), $6 for kids 6-15, while children 5 and under are free.
