LUCAMA, NC – Longtime Southern National Motorsports Park competitor Melvin Langley is as confident as ever heading into the 2018 season at Southern National Motorsports Park, which goes green on Saturday afternoon with the Dogwood 265 presented by Solid Rock Carriers.
The 38-year-old from Nashville, North Carolina is teamed up with Bradley McCaskill and Ronald Renfrow. He has a new car, new motor, and a new attitude.
“It feels really good to come into this season confident and with a newer car and the help I have,” Langley said. “I’ve got a lot of new guys helping me out, mainly Bradley McCaskill and Ronald Renfrow. I’ve also got guys who have been with me my entire career. Just looking forward to a year where I’ve got two engines, two chassis, John West Racing engines have helped out, I feel more confident going into this year than I have in years past with the equipment I’ve got.”
Last year, Langley was on the sidelines for much of the year, helping out friends racing at nearby dirt tracks. Now, he’s motivated to run well and win races when he gets back in the saddle again.
“I feel really pumped up and I’m looking forward to getting back in the seat,” Langley remarked. “I was helping guys at the dirt track last year to kill time. I’m really motivated. I’m ready to get back to doing what I love doing.”
Langley intends to run the full five race Late Model Stock Car schedule at Southern National and possibly a handful of Limited Late Model races as well.
Saturday’s Dogwood 265 presented by Solid Rock Carriers will feature 150 laps of Late Model Stock Car racing as well as 35 laps for the Charger division, 50 laps for the Mini Stocks and 25 laps for the Bandoleros. The green flag will wave at 2pm.
