LUCAMA, NC – The Fast Five Pro Late Model championship will be decided with twin races on Saturday, October 7th during the fourth running of the Spooktacular at Southern National Motorsports Park.
In addition to the Pro Late Model race, the bounty on Colt James, who has won the last seven Fast Five Pro Late Model races, has been increased to $1,000 – meaning the winner of the race could take home as much as $4,500.
The Fast Five Pro Late Model Series has drawn big names to the track in 2017. In August, NASCAR Next driver Hailie Deegan competed in a Pro Late Model race along with rising star Jared Fryar, Matt Sever, Jody Measamer and Giovanni Bromante. However, Colt James swept both races on August 19th, prompting Southern National Motorsports Park track owner Michael Diaz to raise the bounty on him.
“I think it’s an honor,” Pro Late Model points leader James said about the bounty. “It says a lot about us as a team. We got the car figured out. To me, it’s an honor. Of course, it’s going to bring people in and it might cause some late race drama, but, it says a lot. There are a lot of rental programs and bigger money teams and it shows the low budget guys can still get it done.
The addition of the Pro Late Models to the Spooktacular comes after Fast Five Pro Late Model Series races in June and July were rained out. The Spooktacular will feature it’s traditional 100 lap Limited Late Model race as well as racing for the Charger, Any Car, Legend Car and Bandolero divisions. The Spooktacular will be run on Saturday, October 7th.
