LUCAMA, NC – Several bonuses have been added to Saturday night’s Pepsi Summer Heat Wave presented by Bridgestone thanks to the Big Boys Truck Stop in Kenly, North Carolina.
The bonuses that are being put up are in the Late Model, Charger and U-CAR divisions with hopes of attracting drivers from other tracks that are not running to Southern National Motorsports Park on Saturday night, June 27th. Bonuses are in place for the highest finishing drivers who have not competed at Southern National.
A $150 bonus is up for grabs for the highest finishing Late Model who has not run at Southern National this season while a $75 bonus is up for grabs for the second highest finishing Late Model who is running at Southern National for the first time this season. If 20 or more cars start the Late Model feature, $100 will be added to the purse for every car that races.
In addition to the Late Model bonuses, a $100 bonus is up for grabs for the highest finishing Charger who has not run at Southern National this season and $75 for the highest finishing U-CAR who has not run with Southern National this season. $75 will also be paid to the highest finishing U-CAR racing on stock wheels.
“We’re rolling out the red carpet this weekend,” Southern National Motorsports Park promoter Langley Austin said. “Ace Speedway just shut down at least temporarily and other tracks are off this weekend and we want their drivers and teams to know they have a place to come race. Southern National is one of the premier facilities in short track racing and we want everyone to experience it.”
Saturday night’s Pepsi Summer Heat Wave presented by Bridgestone at Southern National Motorsports Park will feature twin races for the Late Model and Charger divisions as well as the Prelude to the Triple Crown for the U-CAR division, in which additional bonuses have already been announced. In the Late Models, the driver with the best average finish receives a $200 bonus or, if a driver wins both races, a $400 bonus. In the Charger division, the bonuses are $100 for the best average finish or $200 for a sweep.
Along with the Late Model, Charger and U-CAR races, the Legends and Bandoleros will be in action and the Piedmont Mini-Cup Racing Association will be returning to Southern National for the second consecutive race.
