LUCAMA, NC – Southern National Motorsports Park is rolling out the red carpet early for the drivers competing in the Ultimate Body Shop Triple Crown U-CAR Series with a special event on Saturday, June 27th as part of the Pepsi Summer Heat Wave presented by Bridgestone.
The final two races in Ultimate Body Shop Triple Crown U-CAR Series will be held on Saturday, July 11th at Southern National, but drivers competing in the June 27th Prelude to the Triple Crown will be greeted with bonuses spread out through the field, totaling $1,000, if 25 or more cars compete in the race. The race will also be extended to 30 laps from the regularly schedule 25 laps if 25 or more cars enter.
“The U-CAR division brings great fields and delivers great racing every race here,” Southern National Motorsports Park track promoter Langley Austin said. “We want this Ultimate Body Shop Triple Crown U-CAR Series to be as big for the U-CAR drivers as the CARS Tour is for Late Model drivers or the Mid-Atlantic Street Stock Championship Series is for Street Stock drivers. We’re hoping we can get 25 or more cars here for this race and we hope that field grows even more for the Triple Crown race on July 11th.”
The Ultimate Body Shop Triple Crown U-CAR Series is a six race championship being held over the course of three events at three different tracks (Southern National, East Carolina Motor Speedway and Wake County Speedway). The first event was held on May 30th at East Carolina where Lynn Waller and Ronnie “Buckshot” Jones scored victories. The second event will be held on Friday night, June 19th, at Raleigh’s Wake County Speedway with twin races and the final race, also twin races, will be held on July 11th at Southern National.
“The U-CAR division deserves to be in the spotlight,” Austin remarked. “This division is the heart and soul of grassroots racing and they put on some great races at every track they go to. We’re excited to put the spotlight on them and we hope to see all of the region’s drivers come to Southern National on June 27th, July 11th and throughout the year.”
Last Saturday’s U-CAR race at Southern National saw the largest field all season with 15 entrants. Buckshot Jones, who won one of the opening round races in the Trple Crown, scored the win over Travis Miller and Lee Horner on Saturday. Tyler Horne and Travis Miller have also scored wins this season in the U-CAR races at Southern National.
The U-CAR division will be joined by twin races for the Late Models and Chargers as well as the Legends, Bandoleros and Piedmont Mini-Cups for the Pepsi Summer Heat Wave presented by Bridgestone on Saturday night, June 27th.
