Zack Brown is already accomplished in professional bowling but he’s hoping to add accomplishments to his resume in auto racing.
Brown, 26, from Holly Springs, is a sophomore driver in INEX Legends racing. Prior to racing in the Legends division, he had raced in endurance karting. He currently races at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, North Carolina as well as at Wake County Speedway in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Heading into Saturday night’s Dog Days Clash, Brown is looking to improve performance-wise.
I hope this weekend goes better,” Brown said. “I hope the Friday practice will pay off. I’m going to try to get some coaching from another driver instead of my dad (William). My dad, he has just as much experience racing as I do. Just being the car owner. We kind of came in the Legends series kind of blind so it’s not like he can tell me a whole lot. I’m learning on my own and asking other drivers. Other drivers aren’t going to reveal everything so there still remains a learning curve.”
Brown has struggled at Southern National, but he says it’s more on him than it is the car.
“The car isn’t bad. I had Dillon Spain get in my car and he was three or four tenths faster than me and we didn’t change anything,” Brown explained. “For Kenly, it seems to be so momentum based and I have a hard time keeping my momentum up. I think my marks might be off with the throttle. If I can figure that out and figure how to keep my momentum through the corners, I can pick up time. I don’t think it will be the half second I need but I can start trending in that direction.”
Along with being a bowler and a racer, Brown is also a Civil Engineer who works for a consultant company in Cary, North Carolina designing bridges. When he’s racing, he’s not just racing for wins either but also for autism awareness. His older sister, Meagan, has autism and Brown races in support of the Autism Society of North Carolina. He also races with the support of Beaver’s Family Dentistry in Apex, North Carolina.
Brown will be racing in Saturday night’s Dog Days Clash at Southern National Motorsports Park.
