LUCAMA, NC – Racing action resumes Saturday night at Southern National Motorsports Park with the Supreme Pools Summer Classic, featuring the Ultimate Body Shop Triple Crown U-CAR Series and a Late Model doubleheader that promises to entertain.
The race, which is set to go green at 7:15pm EST, will see twin Late Model races and twin U-CAR races as well as races for the Charger, Legends and Bandolero divisions and the debut of the new Stingers division.
Stage Set for Triple Crown Finale
Lynn Waller leads The Ultimate Body Shop Triple Crown U-CAR Series standings after four of six races with the final two set to take place on Saturday night as the headline act in the Summer Classic. Waller leads Joseph Pittman by five points in the standings while Tyler Horne and Travis Miller are tied for third, eight points behind Waller. The final leg of the Triple Crown features twin races with an inversion of up to 10 cars for the second race. With big money on the line, the final leg in the Triple Crown could attract the largest field of U-CARs in the region so far this season.
Andrew Grady Chasing First Career Championship
Andrew Grady has won three races this year and is the clear favorite to win the Late Model division championship, but last year’s winningest Limited Late Model driver finds himself in a tie for the second position, three points behind leader Rusty Daniels. Grady has all the confidence in the world that he can win the championship, a championship he felt he should have won last year, and it is the one thing the 21-year-old from Knightdale, North Carolina has his sights set on.
Savannah Beasley Rides Waves of Momentum
16-year-old Savannah Beasley from Kenly, North Carolina has had a tremendous amount of bad luck in the 2015 season racing in the Bandolero division. She’s been involved in wrecked under green and even under caution, but a win last week at East Carolina Motor Speedway in Robersonville, North Carolina may have been the turning point for her season. With bad luck behind her, Beasley expects to be a contender in Bandolero races on Saturday night and on Sunday afternoon.
“Sunday FunDay”
The $15 ticket for Saturday night’s race also covers the cost of admission for Sunday afternoon’s “Sunday FunDay” exhibition, featuring twin races for the Legends cars and Bandolero cars.
A Monster Good Time
Southern National Motorsports Park recently announced a Monster Truck show, set for Saturday, August 15th. One of the four Monster Trucks that will be on hand for that show will be at Southern National Motorsports Park for Saturday night’s Summer Classic to give a fans a taste of what’s ahead.
Wayne Goss Educates Youth
2014 Southern National Motorsports Park Charger division champion and track regular Wayne Goss spoke to children from the Kinder Castle Day Care on Tuesday afternoon about racing. Goss talked about everything from the safety aspect to the competition aspect and even took the youths around the track in the Southern National Motorsports Park pace car which is provided by the Deacon Jones Auto Group.
Next Race: Dog Days Clash; Sat. Aug. 1st
Following the conclusion of this weekend’s races, Southern National Motorsports Park will begin setting the stage for the “Dog Days Clash” on August 1st as the championship enters the homestretch for the 2015 season. The Dog Days Clash will be headlined by a 100 lap, $1,600-to-win Late Model feature, a $1,000-to-win Enduro Derby, the return of the Street Stock division which will run under the Mid Atlantic Street Stock Championship Series rulebook, and racing for the Charger, Legends, U-CAR and Bandolero divisions.
