LUCAMA, NC – Southern National Motorsports Park returns to action on Saturday night with a full slate of racing for Wounded Warriors Night which will be headlined by the Mid-Atlantic Street Stock (MASS) Championship Series.
The MASS Series is the region’s lone Street Stock tour and Saturday night’s race will be the sixth race on the tour’s eight race schedule. Greg Barnett, who won a Street Stock race on August 1st, leads Sonny Schoeffen by nine points in the series. 13 points back sits Jeff Melton. Barnett is a favorite to win the race. He is a four-time champion in Street Stock competition at Southern National.
Grady and Findley Continue Duel
Teammates Andrew Grady and Jonathan Findley are bringing their championship duel into Saturday night’s twin Late Model features. After scoring wins back in July, neither driver finished on the podium on August 1st as Mike Darne and Rusty Daniels scored their first Southern National wins of the season while Kate Dallenbach and Tyler Matthews also made noise. Findley trails Grady by three points and both drivers are hoping to make headlines Saturday night.
Kailey Murray’s Momentum
For much of the season, it looked like anything that could keep Kailey Murray out of victory lane did happen. Now, Murray has momentum on her side after scoring two consecutive wins in the Bandolero division at Southern National Motorsports Park. Murray’s recent wins have allowed her to cut Josh Kossek’s points lead down to seven.
Honoring America’s Bravest
Military appreciation will be the theme of the night in Wounded Warriors Night. Tickets have already been distributed to wounded veterans for the race and pre-race ceremonies will be decorated by military pride. The invocation will be given by Bill Boyd from the American Legion Marine Corps. League, the colors will be presented by the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Honor Guard and the Star Spangled Banner will be performed by Melissa Watkins from the Gold Star Wives of America.
