LUCAMA, NC – With rain moving in on Saturday and forecasted to linger into Sunday, Southern National Motorsports Park has made the decision to postpone the Jerry Moody Memorial. The race will now be run on Sunday, May 17th.
“This is a race honoring the life and legacy of Jerry Moody and we want it to be done right,” track promoter Langley Austin said. “This race means a lot to the fans and drivers and staff of Southern National. With tomorrow’s forecasted uncertainty we feel it’s in everyone’s best interest to postpone the race to Sunday May 17th.”
The Saturday, May 17th race will be the day after the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star exhibition race in Concord, North Carolina. The track’s decision to postpone the race was made to save teams and fans money and keep the event as a marquee race.
“Postponing the race today will save most teams and fans money for travel and the hassle of sitting around in the rain for much of the day. We know this won’t make everyone happy but we’re doing this is in the overall best interest of everyone involved. Being proactive rather than reactive should make things better for the teams, fans and sponsors.”
The next race at Southern National Motorsports Park will be on Saturday, May 9th.
