KANNAPOLIS, NC – Kodie Conner heads into this weekend’s Pro All Stars Series (PASS) event at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, North Carolina with renewed optimism and a heavy heart. This weekend’s race will be the first time Kodie has appeared at the track without his grandfather Jerry Conner. Mr. Conner suddenly passed away a couple weeks ago and was a staple at most all of Kodie’s races.
Kodie and his KCR team are going to bring back the retro paint scheme that his grandather raced for years back in New Jersey as part of the Tom & Jerry Racing team. Along with that new scheme, Kodie will be piloting a brand new Fury Race Cars chassis in competition for the first time.
“When the throwback scheme was brought to grandpa’s attention he loved the idea,” Conner mentioned about the paint scheme. “I just wish he was still with us today to be able to see this brand new car hit the race track. It definitely would not be possible without his care and support of my racing career, but now he will have the best seat at the race track watching myself and team KCR win races.”
Since the last PASS race was rained out on Memorial Day weekend, it has been over two months since Kodie was last in a competitve race. That was a season best 3rd-place finish at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, N.C. After a disappointing start to the 2017 Pro All Stars Series season, Conner has put together a string of four top ten finishes in a row heading into this Saturday’s 150 lap affair.
Conner enters the Southern National 150 in fourth place in the 2017 championship standings, just 52 points behind the PASS championship leader Matt Craig, and he is only 8 points out of the second position.
This race will feature some of the biggest names of Super Late Model racing in the region as the top three finishers are guaranteed a starting position in the inaugural Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown this November at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) to close out the 2017 Pro All Stars Series season.
Kodie has already tested the brand new car with guidance from long-time mentor and set-up guru Jeff Fultz. Fultz was very happy with the car and driver after the test and Kodie is full of confidence heading into Kenly this weekend.
The PASS Southern National 150 takes place this Saturday, July 15th at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, North Carolina. Race action is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM. For more information on the event schedule visit www.proallstarsseries.com.
