LUCAMA, NC – Southern National Motorsports Park will hold a driver appreciation practice night on Friday, July 31st with free practice for competitors as well as complimentary meals.
The practice session, which will replace the Saturday morning optional practice, is open to all drivers and crew members. Pit gates for the practice will open at 3pm and cars will be on track from 4pm to 8pm. Along with the free practice for drivers, practice will be free for the fans to attend as well.
“We need to give back to the racers,” said track promoter Langley Austin. “This is a great opportunity for us to do so. These guys spend their hard earned money, blood sweat and time to race with us. There’s a lot of things we can do to make them feel appreciated and this is one of them.”
During the practice session, Southern National will feed the drivers with hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, lemonade and iced tea.
“We want to be the most driver, team and fan friendly track around. It’s not just a gesture; it’s how we really believe. Michael Diaz and I both know how valuable the racers are. Every racer, not just Late Models, but everyone who races at Southern National is appreciated.”
The Driver Appreciation Night will be held on the eve of the Dog Days Clash. The Dog Days Clash, which will be run on Saturday, August 1st, features twin 35 lap Late Model races with up to $2,500 up for grabs as well as the return of the Street Stock division with a 50 lap, $750-to-win race. The Charger, Legends, U-CAR, Stingers and Bandolero divisions will all be in action along with the Southern Ground Pounder Vintage Racing Club.
