2003 Southern National Motorsports Park champion and two-time Thanksgiving All-Star Classic winner Denny Hamlin scored the victory in a photofinish in Sunday’s Daytona 500.
Hamlin edged Martin Truex, Jr. to score the victory in American auto racing’s biggest and most prestigious event.
Hamlin’s career started out on the short tracks of North Carolina and Virginia. Throughout his Late Model career, Hamlin scored numerous victories – many of them at Southern National. He won the track championship at Southern National in 2003 and won the Thanksgiving Classic in 2003 and 2007.
Along with his victory in Sunday’s Daytona 500, Hamlin also won in the Sprint Unlimited exhibition race held on February 13th.
The 2016 season at Southern National Motorsports Park will get fired up when the CARS Tour comes to Lucama, North Carolina on April 2nd with Late Model Stock Car and Super Late Model racing. The regular season will get underway on April 9th.
