This year’s Thanksgiving Classic will feature 11 divisions of racing across three days and all the excitement gets started on Friday evening at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, North Carolina.
Friday night’s races get underway at 7pm with 50 laps of Street Stock racing, 40 laps of racing in the Stancil Products Legends Cup, a unique event where Legends drivers team up to compete, and 50 laps for the G&S Auto Body Chargers. Saturday night will be a loaded day and night of action which will set the field for Sunday’s 200 lap Late Model Stock Car race while seven divisions will hold feature races.
Saturday’s action gets underway at 2pm with Late Model Stock Car qualifying. The top 22 cars will be locked into the race while everyone else will compete in a Last Chance qualifier at 4:15pm on Saturday. Following the Last Chance Qualifier, the Southeast Mini Stock Tour will kick off Saturday’s feature races.
Saturday night’s program continues with 40 laps of Stancil Products Legend Cars racing, 40 laps for the Renfrow Heating and Air Southern Lightning Modifieds, 30 laps for the Kenly Real Estate U-CARs, 75 laps for the Mini’s Mission Limited Late Models and 15 laps of racing for the Bombers division.
Sunday will feature the headline event for the Thanksgiving Classic, the 200 lap Late Model Stock Car race which will feature an all-star ensemble of racers from all across the Carolinas and Virginia.
Sunday’s program, which begins at 12:01pm, will get started with the Accent Imaging 125 lap Super Late Model race. That will be followed by the 20 lap Grafix Unlimited Bandolero feature in which the winning driver will take home a brand new Playstation PS4. The event will conclude with the 200 lap Thanksgiving Classic.
The Thanksgiving Classic is the final event of the 2016 season at Southern National Motorpsorts Park and the final asphalt race of the season in the region.
