LUCAMA, NC – After picking up her first career win in the Bandolero division earlier this year, 16-year-old Emily Day feels ready to make the jump to the Legends division.
The Garner, North Carolina teenager tested a Legend Car with the help of Dillon Spain on Thursday and had good pace in her very first laps. Day, who is the sister of Legends racer Caleb Day, may be poised to make her first start in a Legend car in Saturday’s Spooktacular – though it is not definitive yet.

“I’m ready to make the jump,” Day said. “I hope I can be able to succeed in what I do.”
Emily Day scored her first Bandolero win back on May 27th and has been a threat to win in the two other starts she has made this season. Along with the win, she scored a second place finish on August 19th.
“We’ve had a few good runs here and some that could have been better,” Day remarked. “We’re just looking to get better all over.”
While Day is young and has shown potential, she says she does not have plans of racing professionally.
“That’s not in my thoughts” Day commented. “I’m just looking into trying new things and getting better and learning what I can.”
Day wanted to begin racing when she went to the track with her brother, Caleb, who has been racing at Southern National Motorsports Park for the past few years. Last year, she began racing in the Bandolero division, picking up a couple podium finishes in her rookie season.
“I’ve grown up at the track,” Day stated. “My brother raced in a Legend Car so I was always at the track and just wanting to be racing too.”
The next race for the Legends at Southern National Motorsports Park will be on Saturday, October 7th in the Spooktacular.
