Full Day of Qualifying, Fan Activities and Feature Racing Planned for November 7; Friday, November 6 Reserved for Competitor Pit Activities
LUCAMA, N.C. — (September 22, 2026) A new chapter in North-South Shootout history will be written November 6–7 when one of short track racing’s longstanding traditions makes its debut at Southern National Motorsports Park. The North-South Shootout will make its debut at the high-banked North Carolina oval highlighted by a full day of on-track activity on Saturday, November 7, featuring seven divisions, and culminating with the 125-lap Tour-Type Modified main event.
On Saturday, November 7, action will get underway with rotating practice for all divisions at 10:00 a.m. Grandstands will open at 1:15 p.m., followed by single-car qualifying for all modified divisions and Chargers beginning at 1:30 p.m. Fans will also have an opportunity to meet the competitors during a driver autograph session scheduled from 3:15 to 4:00 p.m. before attention turns entirely to the track.
Feature racing begins at 4:30 p.m. with the Legends, Vintage Modifieds, 602 Modifieds, Chargers and Any Cars also taking their turn under the spotlight.
Competitors will begin their North-South Shootout weekend on Friday, November 6 with registration, inspection and optional practice. Registration opens at 11:30 a.m. with technical inspection beginning at 1:00 p.m. Optional practice will be available for the Tour-Type Modifieds, 602 Modifieds and Vintage Modifieds. For Tour Mods, there will be a driver’s meeting and pill draw also scheduled as teams prepare for Saturday’s competition.

With a new track, a new challenge and the same North-South Shootout tradition, November 6–7 promises to bring together competitors and fans from both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line for a weekend built around one of short track racing’s most distinctive divisions.
Competitor registration for all divisions will open Wednesday, September 23, while tickets for the 24th Annual North-South Shootout will go on sale Thursday, September 24.
