Rules & Procedures – Modified & Sportsman Divisions

Event – Laps & Fairness

  • 30 Laps for Every Event
  • If track officials observe a single car consistently dominating, they may assign additional weight or require an RPM chip for future races.
  • Track will determine laps as schedule allows, minimum laps will be 20 and maximum 35. In the event more than 10 cars in each class show up, track may divide the 2 classes with 20 Lap Features
  • All First Time Drivers are WELCOME – Will Start Rear of Field Until Race Director Says Different
  • All New Competitors to SNVS will get one pass on meeting the rules.  If you are running for the track Championship this does not apply.  You must be Legal from Race 1 March 1st.
  • SNMP Track Officials Reserve the right to Add Weight (25lbs +/win) to Cars who win 2+ races

 

Drivers

  • Driver and One (1) Crew Member in for FREE for every Event
  • URA License Not Required to Race – Required to Run for Track Championship & Point Fund
  • All Drivers Must Attend the Drivers Meeting
  • Pit Pass Pricing
    • URA Licensed $35
    • NON – Licensed $50

 

Race Procedures – SNMP Race Procedures will be followed

  • Starting Positions Based on 2nd Practice Times
  • Flag Man Starts Race – At Line
  • All Restarts are at the Line By the P1 Car
  • Cone Re-Starts
  • NO CONTACT – Unless Unavoidable
  • No Blocking
  • No Driving Below Yellow/White Line
  • Slow Cars Stay Low
  • WINNER of Each Event Starts In Rear of Next Event for Each Class
  • Top 3 to Tech after Race – Directly to Tech (Go to your Pit first you will be DQ – No Points)
    • No Antifreeze
    • No Traction Control

  

Tires

  • Any Brand – 10” Scuff (USED TIRES ONLY) No New Tires on Race Day – New Tires MUST be Scuffed on a different day than race day – NO SOAKING!!
  • 10” Steel Wheels ONLY

 

Fuel

  • Race Fuel or Pump Gas ONLY.

 

Safety

  • Up to Date Current Belts, Gloves, Shoes, Helmet Required.
  • Head and Neck Restraints HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
  • Fire Suppression – Fire Extinguisher HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
  • SAFETY – FIRST! NO EXCUSES!!
  • Fuel and Battery Disconnect – HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (Clearly Identified as well)

 

Transponders:

  • Transponders Required – Track Rents them for $25 at Tech Shed
  • Drivers can supply their own – Driver must get their Transponder Number to the timing and scoring official – Prior to 2nd Round of Practice. – If this does not occur Driver will start Last.

 

Spotters and Radios / Raceceivers

  • Spotters Allowed – Must be in Spotters Stand
  • RACEceivers – Required (1 Race Forgiveness for not having it)
  • If Track can not communicate to Driver either through Spotter or RACEceiver then Driver will stop being scored – No Exemptions!

2026 Schedule at SNMP

To Run for Track Championship and Point Fund Driver Must:

  1. Have URA License – From Beginning of Season – March 1st Race
  2. Compete in Every Event
  3. Points Go with Driver not Car – Must Race Car Practiced

Sportsman Division – Car Rules

Body

  • Steel body (1980 or older)
  • Homemade panels must resemble original.
  • Fiberglass hood & trunk allowed.
  • Steel bumpers must resemble original in size.
  • Rubber nose must have internal steel reinforcement.
  • No aftermarket front spoilers.
  • 8-inch rear spoiler.
  • Right side rub rail mandatory if the tires extend greater than 4 inches.

Chassis

  • Must be 12 years old or older (documented).
  • No under-slung chassis.
  • Perimeter or offset chassis allowed.
  • No ride height rule.

Shocks

  • Conventional shocks only.
  • No adjustable or lockdowns.
  • No bumpstops.
  • Coilover or big spring allowed.
  • Schraeder valves – Allowed.

Engine

  • Any Steel Small Block – 4 Barrel Carburetors (Only 1) Allowed
    • No Dry Sump
    • No Aluminum Blocks
    • No Big Blocks
    • No 18 Deg Heads
    • No Fuel Injection
  • 410 Maximum Cubic Inch (+3 Cubic Inch – Tolerance When Checked Hot)
  • Engine Must be Located in car with Front Spark Plug no further back then center of ball joint.
    • +/- 1.5” Tolerance (200 lbs added if over 1.5” – )

Weight

  • Cubic Inch & Weight Must be displayed – NO EXCEPTIONS.
    • Cubic Inch on Hood
    • Weight On Bottom Front Fender
  • Weight after Race with Driver – No Fuel Burn OFF.
    • Perimeter Chassis – 2800 lbs
    • Offset / Straight Rail Chassis – 3000 lbs

 

 

 

 

Modified Division – Car Rules

Body

  • All Steel Body Vintage Style
    • Fiberglass Hood & Trunk Allowed
  • Allowed models:
    • 1930s–40s coaches/coupes
    • Chevy Vega (’70–’77)
    • Ford Pinto (’71–’80)
    • Ford Falcon (’60–’70)
    • AMC Gremlin (’70–’78)
    • Chevy Camaro (’67–’69)
    • Pontiac Firebird (’67–’69)
    • Ford Mustang (’64–’78)
    • Chevy Monza (’75–’80)
    • (No fabricated sheet metal creations.)
  • Early Era Chevy Cavalier Bodies Allowed (Must Represent What was Raced during that ERA)
  • NO – Modern – Style Bodies
  • No air induction or devices that force air.
  • Minimal Rake from Door to Rear Quarter
  • Single Nerf Bars
  • ANY VARIATION MUST BE APPROVED BY SNMP OFFICIAL PRIOR TO RACE EVENT – NO EXCEPTIONS

Chassis

  • Any Frame Type – Offset or Straight-Rail chassis allowed.
  • Minimum wheelbase: 105 inches.
  • Maximum track width: 85 inches.
  • Chassis must be 12 years old or older.
  • No adjustable or canister shocks.
  • No bump stops.
  • No ride height rule.

Shocks

  • Conventional shocks only.
  • No adjustable or lockdowns.
