Two Eastern North Carolina tracks are teaming up for a six-race series for one of the region’s top divisions.
The Six Pack Charger Series will feature three races at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, North Carolina, and three races at Bobby Watson’s Carteret Speedway in Peletier, North Carolina. The first of the six races is scheduled for Saturday, March 8 when Southern National waves the green flag on its 2025 Speedweek.
After Saturday’s race, the series will then continue in Carteret’s JumpStart 2025 season opener on Saturday, April 5.
From there, the series heads back to Southern National on April 12, followed by back-to-back races at Carteret on May 3 and June 7. The series champion will then be crowned at Southern National’s spring finale and championship night on June 14.
The Charger division is one of the fastest growing divisions in the region. The cars are similar in most aspects to Limited Late Models, but tire rules and a handful of other rules in the classes make it more affordable for competitors.
Chargers have replaced Limited Late Models at Carteret.
The Six Pack Charger Series boasts a $1,000 championship purse, with the winner taking $500, second claiming $300 and third place winning $200.
Speedweek goes green Saturday
Saturday’s race kicks off a busy week at Southern National Motorsports Park, which will operate under the United Racing Alliance (URA) banner in 2025.
For the second season in a row, the Wilson County track will hold its Speed Week, with five days and nights of racing at the 4/10-mile high-banked oval.
Chargers, Mini Stocks, Any Cars (Bombers) and Chargers will be in action on March 8 at 3:00pm.
Racing then resumes on Wednesday, March 12 with Bandoleros, Legend Cars, and a 125-lap Late Model Stock Car race. Thursday will feature the same three divisions, but with 50 laps on tap for Late Models. Both races will start around 8:30pm.
Friday night, March 14, Bandoleros, Chargers, Legends, Mini Stocks, Andy Cars and Late Models make up a full night of racing which gets underway at 9:00pm.
Speedweek will conclude on Saturday afternoon, March 15, with Bandoleros, Chargers, Legends, Mini Stocks, Late Models and Any Cars once again in action. The green flag will fly on that event at 3:00pm.
Tickets are available online and at the track on race day. Live, flag-to-flag coverage is also available on the Ultra Broadcasting subscription streaming platform.
