Daniels scores Charger win, Pacitti prevails in Any Car thriller

LUCAMA, NC – Rusty Daniels continued his winning ways on Saturday night, picking up the victory in the KONI Charger feature at Southern National Motorsports Park on Saturday night.

Daniels started on the pole and led wire-to-wire to pick up the victory – his second consecutive win in the Six Pack Charger Series being held by Southern National and Carteret County Speedway.  The victory was a relief for Daniels, who last won at Southern National back in August of 2024.

“It’s just a lot of hard work,” Daniels said.  “We changed a bunch of stuff to come here, totally different racetrack.  Worked all week on the car.  Wife helped me some.  We’re after the [Six Pack Charger championship] now.”

Daniels had won a week prior at Bobby Watson’s Carteret County Speedway in equally dominant fashion.

The most thrilling race came from the Any Car division between Sammy “Showtime” Pacitti and Andrew Watson.  During the entire 15-lap dash, the outcome was in doubt as the two drivers swapped the lead multiple times.  In this race, Pacitti came out on top, getting redemption after mechanical problems relegated him out of the top spot two weeks prior.

“I was just worried about the car going into limp mode, knowing if we got the thing fixed or not,” Pacitti said.  “It didn’t skip a beat and we’re here in victory lane.  I’ll take it.  I jumped the start a little bit, you know, I just got a little crazy and getting a little too antsy, but we got it done.  That race was a blast.”

After congratulating Pacitti, Watson was all smiles with his runner-up effort.

“It’s always a blast and he’s always fun to race with,” Watson remarked.  “Second, hey, first, win or lose, it’s going in the trailer so that’s a win right there.”

Brody Rhodes, who has multiple wins at Coastal Plains Raceway, dominated the 25-lap Legend Car feature to score his first win at Southern National.

“I was just happy to be on the podium at Speedweek for that one race, got up to second last time we were here, and now we got it in victory lane,” Rhodes stated.  “Scotty [Benford] is a heck of a driver, one of the hardest to beat out here, and I’m just happy to be here.”

OTHER WINNERS: Noah Matthews (Virginia Mini Cup), Shayne Lockhart (Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Modified), Kevin Floars (Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Sportsman), Wayne Lawson (East Coast Flathead Ford Sportsman), and Richard Wikle (East Coast Flathead Vintage Modified).

Southern National Motorsports Park’s spring season continues on Saturday, April 26, 2025 with the Springtime Showdown.
